If you’re curious about what scores it typically takes to qualify for Junior Olympics, I track historical JO qualifying scores on this website. For athletes and families new to the JO Qualifier (JORQ) process, here’s a brief overview. Each state hosts a qualifying match where all athletes compete, and scores are sent directly to USA Shooting. Any athlete who shoots at or above the Auto-Qualifying (AQ) score is automatically invited to the championship. Invitations are sent by email in March and make up the first round. This includes all Auto Qualifiers, first-place finishers from each state, and athletes above the first-round cut scores in each age group (U21 – 21 & under, U18 – 18 & under, and U15 – 15 & under). Athletes will have one week to accept their invitation by registering for the championship. After that deadline, a second round cut score is set, additional invitations are sent. The Junior Olympic Championship typically takes place in mid-April.
